MILWAUKEE - Aided by two early goals from Alex Rohder, seven-time Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference champion Dominican shutout the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team 5-0 Wednesday night at Warrior Field.
Rohder netted the game's first goal on an unassisted header just over five minutes into action. A little more than two minutes later, Rohder once again found the back of the net courtesy of an Enzo Berrini free kick for an early 2-0 advantage. At the 23-minute mark, Berrini found Marvin Logan to push the Stars' lead to 3-0, a lead they would carry into halftime.
Dominican's defense stood strong in the first half, allowing just one shot from Brad Mallmann (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth). Dominican pressured WLC with nine shots in the half. Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) made four saves in the first half.
Dominican kept things going in the second half, as Logan scored his second goal of the game off assists from Berrini and Rohder at the 70-minute mark. Ryan Ybarra added one more goal with 10 minutes remaining to put the final at 5-0.
The Stars turned in another solid half in the second, blanking the Warriors in the shot column, while adding nine shots of their own. Stewart made an additional seven saves in goal. Nick Van Pay (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) also contributed two saves for WLC in 12 minutes of action in net.
Ybarra led DU (7-4-0, 5-1-0 NACC) with five shots in the game. Goalkeeper Gabriel Gongora recorded one save.
