BELOIT, Wis. - Sophomore Nate Wasser's (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) goal in the 86th minute erased a 1-0 deficit as the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team tied with Beloit 1-1 Tuesday night in non-conference action at Strong Complex Field. The game was called after 90 minutes due to darkness.
The Buccaneers, despite being out-shot 9-4 in the first half by the Warriors, took the lead in the 26th minute on an unassisted score by Isaiah Turner-Wyatt. The score stood through the end of the first half as senior goalkeeper Jon Stewart (Waukesha, Wis./South) made all three of his saves in the game during the first 45 minutes.
Wisconsin Lutheran continued to put pressure on Beloit in the second half, out-shooting the hosts 10-2. With the lead still in favor of the Bucs, Wasser knotted the score at 1-1 at 85:26 off an assist from junior Brad Mallmann (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth). The contest remained tied through the end of regulation time and then was called before any extra periods were played due to darkness.
WLC finished with 19 shots for the game, led by sophomore Austin Drake's (East Troy, Wis./East Troy) game-high six. BJ Kiser made 10 saves in net for Beloit (0-0-1) to preserve the tie.
The Warriors (1-0-2) will next travel to Tacoma, Wash., this weekend for games Friday and Sunday. WLC will first face Pacific Lutheran (2-0-0) Friday at 9 p.m. CST at PLU's East Field.
