SCHOMMER TAKES DOWN TWO MORE RECORDS AT STEVENS POINT

WLC competes in final meet before conference championships

STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Sophomore Katie Schommer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) took down two more school records on Saturday to lead the WLC women's track & field team at the Pointer Eastbay Invitational.

Schommer broke both the 800-meter and mile run records for the Warriors, who had six student-athletes compete on the afternoon. She completed the 800-meter run in 2:32.52 to place 20th out of 32 competitors and also turned in a time of 5:28.79 in the mile run to finish 12th of 32 in the event.

Freshman Cecilee Rodenkirch (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) also had a solid afternoon. Rodenkirch competed in three events, placing eighth in the triple jump, the highest placing of the day for WLC, with a mark of 10.06 meters. She finished 18th of 28 in the long jump (4.70 meters) and 23rd of 34 in the 55-meter hurdles (9.81).

Shalome Cox (Milwaukee, Wis./Menomonee Falls) rounded out the Warriors' running events, competing in the 55- (8.71) and 200-meter (33.36) dashes.

Sophomore Alex Blahnik (Algoma, Wis./Algoma) led the WLC throwers with a distance of 12.15 meters in the weight throw and an 8.77-meter toss in the shot put. Senior Sarah Hudson (Monroe, Wis./Monroe) also competed in both events with marks of 11.61 and 7.93 meters, respectively. Junior Jess Riege (West Allis, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) also took part in the weight throw, recording a toss of 9.77 meters.

Wisconsin Lutheran competes in the Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships next Saturday at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis.
