Sophomores Shine At UWSP's Eastbay Invite
Erickson and Markham break school records

Sophomore Amanda MarkhamSTEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women’s track & field team competed at the Eastbay Invite Saturday at the Multi Activity Center on the campus of Wis.-Stevens Point. The Warriors finished 11th out of 13 teams at the event.
Sophomore Mary Erickson (Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall) finished the mile run in 5:09.18 to earn second place out of 43 competitors. Erickson broke both her own school and conference record of 5:15.27, which was established a week ago.
Sophomore Amanda Markham (Oostburg, Wis./Oostburg) finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles final with a time of 9.65. In the prelims of the event, Markham had the fourth-fastest time of 9.48, which bested her own school record and also established a new conference indoor record.
Another sophomore, Amberly Weiglein (Brownsville, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) just missed out on her own school record in the prelims of 60-meter dash by placing 17th of 48 with a time of 8.36. Weiglein also placed 16th of 56 (28.10) in the 200-meter dash.
Sophomore Amanda Bregger (Waukesha, Wis./South) placed ninth in the pole vault with a height of 2.96 meters. Bregger also competed in the long jump, finishing 15th with a jump of 4.56 meters. She rounded out the day with the triple jump, where she placed 11th with a mark of 9.93 meters.
The Warriors totaled 10 points to finish 11th in the final team rankings. Wis. Oshkosh won the title with 138 total points.
Wisconsin Lutheran continues competition next Saturday with the Northern Athletics Conference Indoor Championships at the Frank J. Petretti Fieldhouse in Kenosha, Wis. Events are scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
