Bregger Breaks School Record At Karl Schlender Invitational

WHITEWATER, Wis. – Wisconsin Lutheran College sophomore Amanda Bregger (Waukesha, Wis./South) broke the school record in the pole vault Saturday as the Warriors opened their indoor track & field season at the Karl Schlender Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse in Whitewater, Wis.

Bregger placed second out of 12 competitors in the pole vault as she cleared 3.07 meters breaking her old mark of 2.81 meters set last year. Only Wis.-Whitewater's Melanie Pilon cleared a higher mark as she won the event with a height of 3.22 meters.

Sophomore Jenny Ebeling (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) competed in two events Saturday as she placed fifth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:51.35. Ebeling also competed in the shot put where she recorded a throw of 8.52 meters. Sophomore Amberly Weiglein (Brownsville, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) also took part in the shot put, recording a throw of 7.81 meters.

The final Warrior to compete Saturday was junior Chris Sosinski (Antioch, Ill./Shoreland Lutheran) who ran in the one-mile run. Sosinski completed the race in a time of 6:44.47.

The Warriors finished the meet with 12 points as Ebeling’s placing in the 600-meter run and Bregger’s vault earned points during the meet. Host Wis.-Whitewater won the 11-team meet by scoring 225 points.

Wisconsin Lutheran will compete next Friday when it visits the Kolf Fieldhouse to take part in the Wis.-Oshkosh Invite. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
