MILWAUKEE – For the sixth consecutive year, the Wisconsin Lutheran College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has joined forces with the 12 other Northern Athletics Conference member institutions to organize the “Cans Across the Conference” food drive.

The NAC SAAC initiated Cans Across the Conference in 2006 as a community service competition to help benefit local charities. In addition to non-perishable food items, the drive is accepting toiletries (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.) and every dollar donated equals a two-can value in the competition among schools.

The WLC SAAC is collecting cans and other non-perishable items throughout campus until Monday, November 21 to benefit the Food Pantry of Waukesha County. In 2010, Wisconsin Lutheran was fourth in the competition after collecting 2,507 items out of a conference total 27,232. Items can be dropped off at the B level of the Recreation Complex or at the Raabe Stadium concession stand.

For more information about the Cans Across the Conference food drive, contact WLC SAAC Advisor Steve Travis at (414) 443-8872 or steve.travis@wlc.edu.
