Schommer receives All-Academic honors from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS – Wisconsin Lutheran College junior women’s cross country student-athlete Katie Schommer (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) has earned 2010 NCAA Division III All-Academic Cross Country status, it was announced on Monday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Schommer was one of 170 student-athletes represented by 82 institutions that comprised the USTFCCCA All-Academic Women’s Cross Country Team. To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.

Schommer, who earned All-Midwest Region honors, placed 12th overall out of 263 competitors at the 2010 NCAA Division III Midwest Regional with a time of 21:49.6. She became the first student-athlete in WLC women's cross country history to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
